Racial and ethnic minority youth face significant challenges in navigating the educational system and the professional world. Despite their resilience and achievements, their successes are often overlooked or undervalued. Systemic barriers—such as unequal access to quality education, mentorship, and career opportunities—frequently hinder their advancement and visibility. To address these disparities, forums dedicated to empowering ethnic minority youth play a vital role. These spaces provide essential tools, foster meaningful connections, and create valuable networking opportunities to help bridge the gap.
The Restore Somalia Foundation (RSF) ensures its leadership and initiatives are deeply rooted in the diaspora experience, with a particular focus on the unique challenges and opportunities within the Somali-Canadian community and the racial and ethnic minority communities. RSF is organizing an in-person event entitled “Youth Leadership Forum” on December 7, 2024.
The Youth Leadership Forum empowers youth aged 16 to 25, including marginalized and minority groups, by fostering leadership and addressing inequalities and Anti-Racism. This Forum aims to instill confidence and equip youth to thrive in both educational and professional spheres. It will particularly emphasize how the youth can play a role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
